I really don't know why I'm following the developments in the release of The Strangers starring Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman other than it seems to be exactly like French horror thriller Ils, which I had a dubious pleasure of seeing at MIFF.
Below is the "Yellow Band" (fucked if I know what the hell that means. You crazy Americans and your crazy colour-coding) trailer for The Strangers and it certainly makes the film look more action oriented than the more psychologically mind-fucking Ils. I do quite love the trailer actually. It doesn't show so much violence as to possibly turn people off. I'd go so far as to say it's one of the best trailers of the year. It's positively fucked up and scary as hell at the same time.
One bit that seemed odd was when the knock at the door is heard and they say "Isn't it four in the morning?" or whatever they say (because knocks on doors are odd at 4am doncha know) yet they have just gotten all dressed up for, seemingly, a nice night out (dinner and a scary movie, perhaps?)

I really don't like that Saw-style quick cut editing... although (a) it's effective here, and (b) apparently it's not present in the film itself.
I very much want to see this, and Ils.
