I adore this movie and the source material (one of Shakespeare's best, IMO.) This should have swept the Oscars' technical prizes (it got one nod for Canonero's Costuming I believe.)

I hate that closing shot though; I don't know what kind of statement Taymor is making, but it still plays as ill-conceived.

Love the movie and the script, not sure how I feel about it awards-wise though. Certainly good work by Hopkins, Lange, and Rhys-Davies.

Great, now i want to go rewatch it.

Well, I'm with Ali. It definitely should have at least been nominated for Art Direction and MakeUp alongside it's Costume nomination.
