Download "Prologue" (3.73MB) from Desplat's soundtrack to Birth. It's pretty much my favourite piece of film music ever.
(i hope that d/l thing worked!)

Let's hope the nomination happens this year, even though it's much too late to make amends.
Yes, Desplat's "Prologue" is heavenly to the Nth degree... pretty much the best track of film music ever.
It's stunning to me that he's been so ignored by the academy. Arguably the best score of the year twice in a row (Girl, Birth... OK not so arguably in the case of Birth) and then another great one in a movie they nominated for things. Plus they nominated Girl for things. And they ignored him. And the Birth score was GENIUS. And they ignored him. I don't get it. Sure, the film was hated, but it's just best score. You shouldn't have to love the movie.
Anyway, thank god at least the globe voters have some sense and thus have been nominating him every single year for everything. Maybe now that Williams is out of commish this year, he'll get some love.
The Globes didn't nominate him for Birth actually. Girl, Syriana and The Painted Veil, but no Birth. In fact, I believe Birth only received one Original Score nomination (from Online Film Critics? Perhaps. The memory is fuzzy)
Strange, but true.
But Desplat did get a BAFTA nomination. :)
He's amazing, can't wait for his work to The Painted Veil.
