For several weeks while he was on the hustings promoting the stage show The Boy From Oz, Hugh Jackman dropped several hints about the film-production venture Seed Productions, in which he is parner with actress-wife Deborra-Lee Furness and Wolverine producer John Palermo. The company, which plans to spend $10 million production about four films annually aimed at an international market, was launched on Tuesday. It will be based at Fox Studios in Sydney and at 20th Century Fox in Los Angeles. Among the slate of projects that Seed will develop for Australia is a "love-story epic" that Australian writer Stuard Beattie (Collateral, Pirates of the Caribbean) will direct. "Out aim is to support Australian filmmakers, to stimulate the creative community, and provide international opportunities for Australian artists," Jackman said in a statement. The Tourist will be Seed's inaugural project. It will star Jackman and Ewan McGregor, and will start shooting in New York in October under director Marcel Lagenegger.
