Your Thoughts...

Do y'all have any opinions about Hilary Clinton possibly running for the Democratic Presidential selection and then running for President? I'd really be interested to hear some people's thoughts - particularly Americans. You can leave a comment or send me and e-mail to either of the addresses up to the left, at the top of my sidebar.

Would placing Hilary as the contender be a bad move for the Democrats wanting to get into total power? Or are people ready for it?

I love Hillary with a deep, deep love, but I can't decide if she should run or not. I mean, it seems pretty darn clear that she will run, and I would vote for her in a second, but... we need someone who will win, and she's soooo divisive. It's no shock she won such a high percentage of the vote here in NY, she's a star and our highest profile politician, no one really stodd a chance, but for Prez... I really just am not convinced a woman could win yet. Within my lfietime, definitely, hell maybe even within the next 15 years, but my faith in the American public, as big a rise as it's gotten in the past couple of days, still isn't convinced a woman, especially one as distrusted as Hil is by a large portion of the country ... I am not sold. But whomever wins the Dem. nomination gets my vote! And First Gentleman Bill would be the awesomest awesome thing to ever awesomely happen ever.

i think a hispanic (caucasian looking) has a much better chance of being the first minority president before a female.

being democratic and female creates more isolation than support.

Now a republican hispanic...if he could get through the primaries...how could he lose?

I don't know. The rumblings I keep hearing mention not only Hillary, but also Nancy Pelosi as possible contenders (also Barack Obama).

Even on the Republican side, I've heard of Kay Bailey Hutchinson going for the Prez/Vice Prez spot.

I think we might see *gasp* diversity at the next elections. Or maybe people will panic in the primaries and go for Jeb Bush and John Kerry (again). But I hope for the former.

They'd be stupid if they went with another Bush. That'd be lunacy.

Well, Jeb will run eventually. But probably not for a good few years, once people have forgotten what a ****** his brother was (Americans have short memories).

I am neutral/only mildly enthused about Hillary. I think she'd make a good president, and First Gentleman Bill would be heaven, but I don't love her particularly... she has taken some pretty dumb stands recently and has equivocated a lot on the war... I still like her, but she is far from my ideal choice. I do LOVE the idea of the Cintons back in office, but Hil herself... eh. I can take her or leave her.

I do think she'd be kind of a dumb choice for the nomination because I don't think she can win. People REALLY hate her for strange reasons. Not only is she a woman, but she's also an ex-first lady, a carpet-bagger senator, a tabloid figure, and she comes off a cold and bitchy to a lot of people. My own father, for example, I think would vote for just about any republican over her, but would probably vote for other democrat if another were up.

But I think 2008 is her best shot, and I'm sure she'll run... and it's hard to see her failing to get the dem nom, as bad a general-election choice as she is. I dunno. Maybe she can pull it out. It would be a hell of a way to break the barrier against women presidents, but I'm not holding my breath.
