George Miller

Miller has also remained steadfastly committed to making films in his native Australia, on his own terms and far from the prying eyes of Hollywood. His one foray into studio filmmaking — the 1987 adaptation of John Updike’s The Witches of Eastwick — he readily describes as the worst creative experience of his career.

Sorry, off-topic, but have you really watched Mulholland Dr. more than thirty times?!

Sometimes I don't watch all of it (but a good hour and a half of selected scenes), but generally yeah. I'vewatched it a lot. I saw it twice at the cinema and when I got it on DVD I watched it frequently.

Oh, but there is a typo for Contact. I haven't watched that 20+ times.
