ACMI

The ACMI (Australian Centre of the Moving Image) is a cinema in Melbourne's CBD that is so awesome, yet I've never been. They always have extremely interesting movies, as in older ones, specials, retrospectives. For this week only they're screening the Matthew Barney documentary No Restraint alongside Drawing Restraint 9 and the Cremaster cycle. They've have a bunch of retrospectives on directors like Kubrick or Kar-Wai. I always mean to go to these things but it costs money y'all. And add to that all the best ones are on during the weekend or at night. I work over weekends usually and if a sessions doesn't finish until 10.30 at night or later (Mon-Fri) then I have no way of getting home because the last trains are around 11pm and it's a bitch to get back to the station in time. AANYWAY, though I really want to go next Saturday. They are putting on a Dion Beebe retrospective with films that he has lensed included Chicago, Collateral, Praise, Holy Smoke! and Memoirs of a Geisha. However, alongside each of those films they are screening a special movie that Beebe decided as sort of a "this is what inspired me" sort of thing. So next Saturday at 2pm they screening (before Chicago) one of my ALL-TIME favourites (Top 20 definitely) in the form of All That Jazz. I would love to see this on the big screen so if I'm working next Saturday I'll try and swap it. I'd love to see it. I'll cry if I don't. I plan on seeing at least something during the Almodovar retrospective they're sure to put on later in the year.

I'm so desperate to see Bjork on film again. I've actually considered buying 'Juniper Tree' just so I can see her. Nobody near here will show Drawing Restraint though :(
