Hollywood stars JAKE GYLLENHAAL and HEATH LEDGER bonded long before starring in gay romance BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN - they were united in their jealousy of EWAN McGREGOR.
The actors auditioned for MOULIN ROUGE! together, but the two Americans lost out to the charms of the Scottish screen hunk.
Gyllenhaal says, "We'd auditioned for Moulin Rouge! together. It was actually me, Heath and Ewan McGregor at the very end.
"Neither Heath nor I got the part and it was out of jealousy against Ewan that we became friends."
Despite the fact that they called Heath Ledger an "American", this article brought a smile to my face. God, imagine Heath or Jake romancing Nicole Kidman?

I can actually sort of imagine either of them doing it, but neither would've been as good as Ewan. Baz made the right choice.
But yeah, Heath and Jake and Ewan can fight it out in my bed, too. I'd also like to hear Heath and Jake sing.
Well, I certainly hope Heath (if he really was up for MR!) can sing better than he does in 10 Things I Hate About You, that's for sure.
Plus, Ewan is older. Best choice methinks.
