When did that happen?

And by "that" I mean Jamie Gulpilil was bashed unconscious by a mob of some sorts. Apparently it happened last month, but I never read anything about it, nor can I find anything about it on Google. Jamie is the star of the amazing Ten Canoes (the frontrunner for the Best Film prize at next week's AFI awards) and is the son of Australian acting legend David Gulpilil (who, if you read the Herald Sun today, you will find is living quite a tragic life right now). You'd know David from his roles in Walkabout, The Last Wave, Rabbit-Proof Fence and his AFI Best Actor award winning role in The Tracker. Jamie's first role was Ten Canoes - the first film ever filmed in an indiginous Australian language. David Gulpilil provides the narration.

I hope Jamie is better. It'll be a sad note on top of the film if it (or Rolf de Heer, the film's director) wins. Especially as David and Jamie were instrumental in getting the film up.

Here is the story. Odd that it made so little news. And that there are no follow-up stories, either.
