**Dreamgirls has $15.4mil after two days.
**The Pursuit of Happyness has $68mil after 12. It's gonna be a $100mil grosser.
**Robert DeNiro's The Good Shepherd is going surprisingly pleasant. Not great (it's budget was strangely very high), but considering it's gotten, essentially, zero awards/nominations it's interesting to see it nearly at $20mil after only five days. Again, the budget was very high and a possible end gross of around $50mil and no awards might not sound like a win, but at least it's not...
**...Soderbergh's The Good German. Ouch. Nearly at only $300,000 after 12 days and only averaging $1664 per screen.
**I'm surprised that Charlotte's Web has flopped. It's at $32mil after 12 days. Considering it's a kids film at Christmas with talking animals and based on a popular well-loved book, I thought it would've done much better. Is it Dakota's fault? Her teeth? Or... is JULIA ROBERTS ANIMATED BOX OFFICE POISON!!!! LOL. She did have this and Ant Bully. You just know somebody's saying it somewhere in the world.
**Okay, so I know the Weinstein's fucked up the release of Wolf Creek (CHRISTMAS DAY?!?), but they really screwed up with Black Christmas. Were these guys really the ones who had the foresight to release Bad Santa at the end of November and let it work through the Christmas season? Ugh. Idiots.
**Apocalypto is at $37.5mil after 19 days. Good.
**The Queen (which I saw just the other night) is at $27mil. Great numbers for a movie such as this. Well done Miramax. Now all you need are those Oscar nominations that seem oh-so logical at this point and this could be a $50mil grosser.
**Almodovar's Volver is at $3.8mil after 54 days. It can most definitely reach $5mil by the time Academy ballots are in. In fact, I'm positive it will. It's grossing over $100,000 a day, which is good news. At the end of it's run All About My Mother made $8.2mil (end of run: July 9), Talk to Her had $9.3 (end of run: June 15) and Bad Education had $5.2mil (end of run: April 24). Who knows where it will go. It will obviously be getting some Academy love, so...
**So glad that Alfonso Cuaron's Children of Men (which I really liked) is a hit in arthouses. Alas, when it goes into national release (whenever that is) I don't anticipate such a warm welcome. Just look at...
**Aronofski's The Fountain. Hasn't reached $10mil yet despite being out for 35 days. That's sad.
**Babel still hasn't reached $20mil.
**Curse of the Golden Flower is doing alright, but not spectacular with just under $1mil after a week in release.
**Letters From Iwo Jima. Interesting case here. It's only 5 cinemas (FIVE?!?) and has made a bit under $200,000 in a week. It's averaging $4,624. Is that a good thing? Dreamgirls is averaging $6809. Hmmm. I can't really tell on this one.
**For Your Consideration is at $5.3mil.
**Little Miss Sunshine is at $59.421 mil. So close to the $60mil mark.
**The Painted Veil is doing nice numbers from four spots. It has just over $100,000, and is averaging around $3500.
**For whatever reason, they decided to release Notes on a Scandal in Toronto first, and then in NY. At the moment (from it's one Toronto location) it has made $14,000 in 2 days. It has the largest daily average of $8,874 though.
**The Last King of Scotland is at just under $3.6mil. I expected more to be honest.
