Miss Potter
Have y'all seen this picture from the Renee Zellweger/Ewan McGregor Beatrix Potter biopic Miss Potter. I see this movie as either being a complete and utter non-factor in the awards season or actually getting some steam and some attention in the tech categories.
Could Miss Z make another run at Best Actress? I doubt it. Imagine if Zellweger and Hilary Swank randomly made last minute dashes for Best Actress and made it. *waves* Hi Apocalypse!!!

No way that Swank gets nominated again; if it does happen, it will be years from now. I imagine she will go the Gwyneth Paltrow route. Despite excellent reviews for Royal Tenenbaums, Sylvia and Proof, it still hasn't occurred. And since Swank has back-to-back Oscars, she has an even lesser chance.
And anyways, in The Black Dahlia, she plays a femme fatale, which is totally against her successful Oscar hook (deglam).
I kinda wish Gwyneth had just lost in 1998 and then been nominated a couple more times. That's what really should've happened.
Hillary will never get nominated again, I don't think. Certainly not this year. Though she actually looks really good in Black Dahlia...
What I still can't get over is that Theron managed to avoid the "never nominated again" curse... I guess there was not much backlash to her win. Hopefully Berry at least will continue to suffer it.
Yeah, Theron is the strange anomaly in my argument; I still don't know how her nomination happened last year. It just doesn't make sense, because I sensed a hell of a lot of backlash after the win ("It's the makeup doing half the work for her", etc).
Re: Paltrow, I totally agree with you. Her post-Oscar work (excluding View from the Top) has been so impressive! For what it's worth, I think Sylvia is her career high.
There hasn't really been a Theron backlash because she was really good but she hasn't ruined it. Sure, she made Aeon Flux but North Country was commendable and she continues to be assosciated with at least better projects that people like Berry or Swank (post Boys).
Plus, Theron didn't really beat people we all love (the Winslets, the Benings).
I can totally see Theron being the sort've actress that gets about 5 or so noms in her lifetime. I think it's her name! It's very classique.
