We finally have our very first contender for Best Picture of the year. Of course, it won't rate a mention with Oscar, but in a perfect world Jindabyne would be as much of a contender as anything by Eastwood or Scorsese. Ray Lawrence has created another masterpiece, and it becomes the first 2006 release that am giving an A to. Way to go. I will talk about this miracle of a film later, but for the moment let's clap Deborra-Lee Furness who provides one of the best performances in this terrific ensemble. This AND she's married to Hugh Jackman. Lucky gal.
PS; It was so nice to see the 4pm session on opening day actually pretty occupied. I thought there would be maybe 10 people but there was closer to 40, which is a lot for a movie of this sort.
Anyway. Jindabyne is another Aussie gem for the year.
