All is not lost, but Madonna's latest tour plans do not include Australia.
Michael Gudinski is still trying to persuade the Material Girl to tack local dates on to the Japan leg of her Confessions tour.
He said her 1993 Girlie Tour was the biggest he'd ever worked on.
"I've been trying to get her back here ever since, but so far it hasn't been logistically possible," Gudinski says, adding that Madonna's overseas dates mean she is unavailable in our summer.
This makes putting her in large scale outdoor venues (necessary to cope with demand) risky because of the weather.
"I've not given up on bringing her here, though, and will do everything in my power to find an option that means she can tour Australia," Gudinski says.
Madonna fans here have already started petitioning the star to include Australia on her world tour via a Confessions tour feedback email: confess@confessionstour.com on www.madonna.com
Industry sources say if Madonna tours Australia in September or October, she'll bypass a busy period that includes possible tours by Pearl Jam in November, rescheduled dates for Kylie Minogue and U2 in the same month, and Robbie Williams in December.
None of the tours have been confirmed, but promoters have venues on hold for each.
"Australia is so far away and the last two tours I had to cram everything into my children's summer vacations," Madonna told the
Herald Sun in October.
"But I really don't want to pass Australia by next time. If I go to Japan, I'll go to Australia, I promise!"
Madonna's previous two tours skipped Australia.

Okay, so I know I'm being a bit overly dramatic, but I sorta have a right to. She promised to come here for the first time since 1993. Doesn't she think her Australian fans DESERVE this. Let's also remember that her Confessions album debuted at #1, has gone multi-platinum and has been in the Top 20 for all 20 weeks it has been released. "Hung Up" was MASSIVE here. It's still in the Top 40 after 21 weeks! That's the most of any song in a long time. And seriously, the Sep-Oct period is open for a tour!

She's screwed us over again. And we're not happy. (apart from par, of course)

oooooohh, this is why you're pissed at Madonna. Well, I feel you. I live in Miami (or did before college) and no musicians ever go there on tours. It's just too out of the way.
